Seminar on Renewable Energy Trends Held at CUET
The Institute of Energy Technology (IET) at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) organized a seminar titled “Renewable Energy Advancement and Emerging Trends for a Greener Tomorrow” on Sunday at the university's central auditorium. The event highlighted the growing importance of renewable energy and its role in building a sustainable future.
The seminar was graced by CUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan as the chief guest. Special guests included Acting Registrar Professor Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Humayun Kabir and former General Manager of Eastern Refinery Limited, Engineer Manjeri Khurshid Alam. The keynote speech was delivered by Dr. Naushad Amin, Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB). Additionally, Professor Dr. Soumen Rudra from the Engineering Science Department of the University of Agder, Norway, joined the event virtually.
The seminar was presided over by IET Director Professor Dr. Jamal Uddin Ahmed and moderated by Papri Mitra, a master’s student from the institute.
In his address, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan, emphasized the necessity of renewable energy in today’s rapidly evolving world. He remarked, “In this dynamic world, there is no alternative to renewable energy. The progress we have made requires continuous energy support to sustain it. While we face numerous challenges, we must also identify solutions. One of the most viable solutions is renewable energy. Advanced technologies and research are evolving globally, and developed nations are leveraging these to progress. We must also adopt and utilize these advancements to move forward. For a greener future for the next generation, we need collective efforts and practical, action-oriented approaches. To build a safer world, everyone must dedicate themselves to their respective roles.”
The seminar underscored the need for innovation, research, and collaborative initiatives in renewable energy to achieve sustainable development and a greener tomorrow.
